Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

To achieve this, Wunan has developed six strategic priority area: Leadership, Education, Employment, Housing, Health and Commercial to enable us to achieve this.

The People & Services Officer supports the Corporate Services team to identify, develop, and implement solutions across a range of human resource functions including workforce planning, managing for performance, industrial relations, work health and safety, organisational design and staff development.

Key Duties (but not limited)

  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall organisational strategic plan and approach.
  • Lead and guide the recruitment, selection and onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of HR systems, processes, policies and procedures to align to the core framework of Wunan Foundation.
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
  • Ensure organisational compliance with all existing legal and government requirements
  • Contribute to the implementation of an organisation wide learning and development framework to build employee capability
  • Assist with the development to facilitate and evaluate quality staff orientation, professional and career development and staff compliance to align to organisational policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with the Online Learning platform to develop relevant online education courses and materials for all employees.
  • Ensure work practices are ethical and comply with relevant codes and legislative requirements.

Requirements of the role

  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics with knowledge of HR systems and databases
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to HR and IR
  • Demonstrated understanding and skills in the development and implementation of workforce and organisational policies, procedures and frameworks.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • Qualifications in Human Resource Management, Business Management or other related field or equivalent experience
  • Well-developed computer skills including - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with a range of HR databases

  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
