Case Manager - Employment

your job your way is a yourtown initiative and is designed to assist long term unemployed young people to build their employability skills and assist them to gain sustainable employment. Focusing on young people aged 15 - 21 the program delivers a suite of strategies designed to build on a young person's capacity for workforce participation.

What does a Case Manager – Employment do at yourtown?

As the Case Manager – Employment you will work with the young people using a client centred, strengths based approach in helping them work through their complex, non-vocational barriers to employment. Part of a dual support team with the Employment Mentor you will provide in-depth intensive case management to a caseload of 25 young people.

Your days will be diverse but in essence can include:

  • Conducting intake and psychosocial appointments for new members;
  • Undertaking individual assessments and providing referrals to specialist assistance services;
  • Developing case plans and providing employment case management;
  • Assessing and managing risk and providing crisis intervention;
  • Challenging the status quo and advocating for the young person.

About you

You are approachable and easily build rapport with young people. You understand that persistence is key and you follow through on what you commit to. Your practice is client focussed, our young people are at the heart of it and you understand that they are the experts in their own lives. Above all you are passionate – this is your career – a choice you make every day!

In addition you also possess;

  • Mandatory University level qualification in a relevant field (e.g Social Work) coupled with demonstrated experience in the engagement and case management of young people who experience high levels of disadvantage and a range a vocational and non-vocational challenges
  • A solid understanding of the local labour market as well as the barriers faced by long term, unemployed  young people;
  • Proven ability to deliver workshops and group facilitation processes;
  • Proficient skills in using technology and systems; our compliance requirements are high and your administration needs to be on par with this.
