The Zahra Foundation supports women and non-binary folks affected by domestic and family violence, through programs and financial counselling services. By facilitating pathways into further education, training, and employment we empower our participants to break the cycle of abuse. We are one of the leading non-government, not for profit services in Australia providing trauma-informed Specialist Financial counselling and Programs for people recovering from domestic violence. Our tailored programs and financial counselling promote economic empowerment and support women and non-binary folk on the journey to recovery after domestic and family violence.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Zahra Program Team Leader / Facilitator is:

  • Someone who coordinates the day-to-day activities and practice of the SA Programs team and supports and mentors facilitation staff to deliver the Zahra Foundation Specialist group programs
  • A highly skilled trainer, who uses a trauma-informed approach to deliver our Pathways to Empowerment suite of programs in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Someone who facilitates learning through various methods including group led discussion, self-reflection and trauma-informed delivery. They support participants to feel empowered to determine their pathway, and plan and navigate their next steps towards economic empowerment.
  • Someone who is a DV specialist worker and understands the responsibilities of keeping women safe.

ABOUT THE team

The programs team delivers high-quality trauma and violence informed groups and individual support to women and non-binary folk that are impacted by domestic and family violence. Working in an evidence-informed model of service excellence the teams support people to become economically empowered by facilitating services that help people develop pathways in education, training, and employment.

Key selection criteria

Qualifications / Knowledge:

  • Certificate IV qualification or higher in the field of social and community services, counselling or psychology.
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment or working towards a qualification

Skills / Behaviours:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to lead the day-to-day activities and practice of a small team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills or commitment to the provision of high-quality program support to clients who have been subject to domestic and family violence.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills or commitment to the specific needs of women and children who have experienced or been affected by domestic and family violence.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in communication (both verbal and reporting writing).
  • Demonstrated knowledge or commitment to learn the range of entitlements and resources that are available to women who are experiencing financial hardship / abuse that could improve their ability to manage their financial affairs.
  • Ability to work with integrity with colleagues and clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) and ability to input data into approved data base warehouses.

Desirable Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience working in practice in a domestic and family violence or human services organisation
  • Experience of working in trauma-informed and violence informed settings
  • Experience in facilitating group training

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Behaviours:

  • Qualifications training and education of adults with vulnerabilities
  • Training in recognising and responding to DV

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Employment is subjective to a 6-month probationary period.
  • All employees are required to abide by the philosophies and principles of Zahra Foundation, as outlined in the organisational Code of Conduct.
  • All employees are required to have a current Australian driving license
  • All employees must have work rights in Australia
  • Appointment to this position will be subject to clearance from state and national police screening, vulnerable person, and child-related employment screening.
  • All employees who are appointed based on registration to an external peak or regulatory body are to maintain registration for the entirety of the employment, issues related to registration must be reported to the organisation within 5 working days of being known.
  • All employee clearance documentation must be kept up to date, and any changes to clearance must be notified to the Zahra Foundation within 5 working days.
  • All employees must utilise Zahra Foundation systems and software to ensure the quality of the organisation’s work and services are to a high standard.
  • All employees accept there will be outside of normal hours work from time to time.
  • All employees will comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation as outlined in organisational policy and procedures.
  • All employees accept and agree to work within the organisation’s policies and procedures, including compliance and quality frameworks.
  • All employees are required to engage in support, training, professional development and mentoring through the organisational performance development system.
