Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre Inc are now recruiting for two new permanent positions of Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker within our Sexual Assault Program commencing as soon as possible. These positions are flexible with 32-38 hours / week (negotiable) and are remunerated at a SCHCaDS Award Level 5 with salary sacrifice available.

Position Details

The Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker positions will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, ethical, responsive, specialist sexual assault counselling and support services to young women and gender diverse survivors of sexual violence who are residing in the Brisbane South, Brisbane North Region or Brisbane Southwest regions. These two positions will ensure flexible service delivery at the Camp Hill, Nundah, and/or Richlands service sites and will include counselling, planned support (case management) and support coordination, practical support and advocacy, information provision and warm referral; and some mobile outreach services to maximise young people’s access to support.

These positions will also support the development and facilitation of sexual assault support groups, community education, and early intervention and prevention activities to address issues relating to sexual violence.

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor degree qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or relevant work experience
  • Minimum of two years’ experience of working with young people who have experienced violence.
  • A clearly defined practice framework that incorporates intersectional feminist and social justice perspectives.
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s license.
  • Possession of a current Working with Children Blue Card.
