THE ORGANISATION

The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre (CRCC) is a non-government, feminist organisation working to eliminate sexual violence. Our Mission is to be an active, visible catalyst for social change through the provision of high-quality services within a feminist framework.

We provide confidential counselling and support to individuals and their families who have experienced any form of sexual assault and/or sexual harassment recently or in the past, and practical support for people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or ritual abuse, recently or many years ago.

We arrange immediate crisis appointments and provide a 24-hour crisis callout service through the Forensic & Medical Sexual Assault Care (FAMSAC) and/or Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Team (SACAT) services.

Our Crisis phone support is available from 7am until 11pm, 7 days a week.

All of our programs and services are externally funded.

THE POSITION

The HR Manager will be an experienced operational and strategic human resources practitioner who demonstrates sound relationship management, communication, and analytical skills, preferably having experience within a not for profit organisation. Using these skills, the HR manager will provide specialist advice and management through relationship building, conflict resolution, strategic issue management, operational implementation and proactive delivery of a diverse range of workplace relations, employment, policy and procedure, advocacy and business partnering services.

Key to the success of the role will be the ability to engage and support CRCC Leadership team on HRM strategic direction in a challenging environment.

The HR Manager will adopt a coaching and mentoring approach with a primary goal of building confidence and capability within Senior counsellors and employees in support of a people-centred culture.

NB: This is a woman-only position under s 33B of the Discrimination Act (ACT) 1991 and is a genuine occupational qualification for the position.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A strong commitment to feminist principles including a strong ethic of confidentiality and the ability to work within a human rights framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an environment where staff provide support to people who have experienced significant trauma
  • Demonstrated experience in HRM practices, including employee/industrial relations, dispute resolution and relationship building, preferably within a not for profit organisation.
  • High level of collaboration skills, including the demonstrated ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to manage personalities and complexity with maturity, respect and integrity.
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant employment or HRM-related legislation and regulation, including the ability to interpret enterprise agreements and other industrial instruments, and build effective policy and procedural frameworks to support implementation and adherence.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in using Employment Hero, and preparation of payroll.
  • Demonstrated behavioural competencies in alignment with the CRCC Values
  • Police check clearance and a (or an ability to obtain) ‘Working with Vulnerable People’ registration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Tertiary qualifications in human resource management (HRM) or a related discipline, and/or substantial experience in these fields, and/or substantial and relevant experience and practice managing an HR function.
