About us:

The Good Samaritan Inn (GSI) has been delivering a specialist response to victim survivors of family violence and homelessness, since 1996.

GSI’s support services are a critical part of the Victorian Family Violence Service System prescribed by Family Safety Victoria/Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. GSI provides crisis and short-term accommodation and support services to women (i.e. trans and cisgender women*), non-binary, and gender diverse people, including children and young people. Victim survivors are provided with a range of supportive, therapeutic and psycho-educational programs with a strong focus on recovery and healing.

About the role:

The Women in Work (WIW) program works one-on-one with victim survivors of family violence who require the skills and capability to become financially independent and/or the support to recover and break the cycle of disadvantage. WIW offers coaching and a pathway to employment, partnering with employers across various industries seeking to employ highly motivated survivors to make a difference in both their workplace and the lives of program participants.

The Client Liaison Coordinator works alongside the Coach to ensure the seamless coordination of all aspects of the program, and is responsible for the coordination, planning and monitoring of WIW clients to ensure the delivery of high-quality support

*GSI extends its service provision to all women (i.e. trans and cisgender women), non-binary, and gender diverse people, including children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and accept referrals to Women in Work in consultation with the Manager and the team
  • Consult with referring agency for relevant information about the victim survivor
  • Make initial contact with prospective Women in Work participant and assess their employment readiness and/or coaching needs
  • Assess for program eligibility, and make necessary recommendations and referrals to employment readiness programs or crisis support as required
  • Review participant’s resume and assist with matching to appropriate jobs per the WIW jobs bulletin
  • Liaise with prospective employer/s to advocate for the role on behalf of the participant
  • Maintain contact and support for participant including unsuccessful outcomes and support further opportunities
  • Manage issues that may arise between the employer and the participant, using an empowerment model and engage the Service Planning and Development Manager as required
  • Work collaboratively with the Service Planning and Development Manager and the Coach in support of the participant
  • Supporting the strategic development and growth of Women in Work in collaboration with the team

Conditions of employment:

  • A Working with Children Check (Employee Version)
  • A current Victorian driver’s license
  • Successful appointment to the position will be subject to a National Police Check (and international if applicable)
  • Eligible to work in Australia.
