Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, Women’s Council continues to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support. At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – Walytja. Our purpose is to work side by side with women, children and their families of the NPY region in central Australia to help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The People and Workplace Services Manager is a member of the Executive Leadership team and reports to the CEO. This Manager leads a business support team of 7 people including Human Resources, Business Support, Property and Vehicle Maintenance. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a team of dedicated staff and have qualifications in human resources or another relevant business-related field.

We are looking for someone who has experience managing the day to day human resources function and the ability to develop and implement major strategic HR projects. You will have highly developed interpersonal skills and an understanding of supporting staff working cross culturally and with a high level of trauma content. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with remote communities and have a desire to work in the Central Desert region. You will work within a supportive, trauma informed framework and have the opportunity to learn community development and intercultural liaison from highly skilled, experienced professionals.

We provide a comprehensive orientation program, best practice supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma and case management training along with critical incident debriefing and a range of counselling services to support you. In addition to a generous remuneration package, you will receive an above award salary, additional superannuation, salary packaging benefits, 6 weeks of annual leave, 3 weeks of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. The Women’s Council provides use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely along with travel allowance.
