WomenCAN is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2019 to support women into the workforce through vocational training and peer-led support programs. The goal is to build women’s confidence and gain financial independence through meaningful paid employment.

WomenCAN provides free training and job placements through a range of partner organisations. Currently focussed on Childcare, Aged care, transport and trades, WomenCAN has successfully placed more than 70% of program participants into permanent employment. WomenCan also runs successful social enterprises WomenCAN Build and WomenCAN Work providing services around Victoria.

Following the retirement announcement of the inaugural Chair- Marion Webster AM, the Nominations Committee is seeking applications from dynamic and committed individuals to assume the role of Chair of the Board to steer the organisation through the next phase. The Chair leads, inspires and motivates the voluntary Board of up to 9 members to oversee the strategic leadership and governance of the organisation.

To be considered for this position, you will be an experienced Board Director and able to demonstrate:

  • An understanding and commitment to the Not-for-profit sector and advancing the position of women in the community.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills with a focus on workplace culture and wellbeing.
  • A solid understanding of risk management and operational excellence, underpinned by solid systems and processes.
  • Commercial acumen & financial literacy.
  • Completion or intention to undertake equivalent qualifications to the AICD’s Company Director’s course is also highly desirable.
