ABOUT THE POSITION:

This role is an Aboriginal identified position which will be based in our Domestic Violence Response Enhancement (DVRE) team. This position will also provide back up to our Specialist Intake and Assessment team.

Our DVRE team provides specialist domestic violence support to single women and women with children who have been placed in Temporary Accommodation (TA) by Link2Home, Domestic Violence Line and Police.

In this role you will provide case management to women to assist them to address their homelessness issues in an effort to prevent them from entering or re-entering the homelessness system. The role aims to address immediate needs related to a woman’s domestic violence issues and explore alternative accommodation options and assist them with securing safe affordable housing.

The role will also include providing intake, assessment and referrals for women initially seeking support from DV West.

The successful applicant will be willing to undertake further training in using a domestic & family violence informed, trauma-informed and strength-based approach in their work.

ESSENTIAL Criteria

  • Identifies and is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person within the local community
  • Experience working with Aboriginal women and children in a culturally sensitive way
  • Understanding the drivers and gendered nature of violence against women
  • Proven experience/ ability to deliver specialist domestic and family violence case management providing direct support, assistance and advocacy for women and children
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, other services, and government agencies
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Flexibility to work between 7am to 8pm
  • Availability to participate on an on-call roster
  • Current NSW drivers’ licence

DESIRABLE criteria

  • Current first aid certificate
  • Understanding or experience in the Safe & Together Model

EMPLOYMENT AS PER SCHCADS AWARD

  • Employment as per SCHCADS Award plus 11.5% superannuation and Salary Sacrifice offered.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Confirmation of employment will be subject to candidate's possession of a Current Australian Drivers Licence, Working with Children Check, completed Australian Criminal History Check and provision of COVID-19 vaccination certificate, in line with the DV West COVID Business Continuity Plan, or valid medical exemption, to comply with DV West’s Work Health and Safety requirements.
